Obituary for John Joseph Iannuzzo

John Joseph Iannuzzo, 83, of Kenhorst, passed away December 14, 2013 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the husband of Louise Helen (Henninger) Iannuzzo.

Born December 10, 1930 in Reading he was a son of the late Giovanni and Santa (Ciatto) Iannuzzo.

He was a roofer, retiring in 1995. He also owned Johnny's Broadhead Archery Shop, Kenhorst.

John was an avid outdoorsman and loved and excelled at fly fishing, bowhunting and archery. He was a member of the Reading Archery Club, the Strausstown Rod and Gun Club, Atlantic Salmon Federation, The Ruffed Grouse Society, Pope & Young Club, The National Wild Turkey Federation, Rocky Mountain Elk Federation, and was a charter member of Trout Unlimited.

In 1972, he was recognized as one of the nations 30 outstanding bow hunters & was named a Senior Member of the Pope & Young Club, bagging record book game in four species to achieve that honor. He also served as an “official measurer” for that club.

In his younger years he ran track (sprints) in school. He was a champion gymnast with the Ally-Oops, performing intricate balancing & strength moves on local landmarks, in formation with other gymnasts at competitions & shows, & at carnivals. He was also a champion diver, having dived off the Steel Pier in Atlantic City, NJ, performed “fire dives” & other stunts into a local pool, & performed in the West Reading Water Shows.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, John J. Iannuzzo, Jr., Reading. Also surviving are his brother, Frank, husband of Nancy Iannuzzo, ExeterTownship; his granddaughter, Janelle Iannuzzo, Reading; and his great-grandson, Dominic Iannuzzo.

John was predeceased by his two sisters: Domencia "Minnie" Iannuzzo and Anna Iannuzzo.

Visitations will be held Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's memory to the Salvation Army, 301 S 5th St, Reading, PA 19602. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
