Jack Herman Unger, 83, of Muhlenberg Township, died 12/13/14 in St. Joseph Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of Jacqueline Ruth (Miller) Unger, whom he married November 22, 1952.
Born August 1, 1931 in West Reading, he was a son of the late Herman Alfred and Marian Etta (Seeds) Unger.
Jack was a 1950 graduate of Muhlenberg High School and a 1958 graduate of Industrial Management Institute. He also attended Albright College.
He was employed as a planner with NGK Corp. for 34 years, retiring in 1990.
Jack was a member of Calvary Reformed Church of the United Church of Christ, Reading.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict as a gunner’s mate on the destroyer USS MADDOX (DD731).
Jack was a member of the Clover Park Athletic Association and the Berks County Historical Society, Reading.
In his younger years, he had a passion for farming, hunting and playing high school and college football. He was always an entertaining storyteller and singer.
