Burton F. Kominick
Burton F. Kominick, 93, of Wyomissing, passed away March 22, 2018, at the Reading Hospital.
His wife, Alice B Kominick, passed away on January 11, 2018. They were married on June 15, 1946.
Born in New York City, he was the son of the late David R. and Radie (Furman) Kominick.
Burton was a 1942 graduate of New Rochelle, NY High School and Rider University in 1947, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Business Administration.
He started his professional career at the Lee Company as a salesman in Maine and New Hampshire, then became Vice-President and General Manager of Eloesser Heynemann, a subsidiary company of Lee, in California, later becoming Vice-President of Marketing and Private Label. Before retiring in January 1990, he was Vice-President of Marketing for the Vanity Fair Factory Outlets.
Burton was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing, where he served on the Finance and Endowment Committees, as well as the Pastoral Care Committee. He was a member of the 32nd Degree Mason-Blue Lodge #108 South Portland, Maine, and the Chandler Lodge #227, West Reading. He served as Past President of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce, Portland, Maine, in 1956.
He was an avid golfer, having taken up the sport in earnest at his retirement; played bridge, and enjoyed reading, especially biographies, mysteries, and The Wall Street Journal.
Burton is survived by his son, Burton F., Jr., husband of Mimi Kominick, Exeter Twp., and two daughters; Reverend Millie T. (Kominick), wife of Roger E. Rochester, Vancouver. WA; and Diane L. (Kominick), wife of Harry E. Ouzoonian, Warwick, NY, as well as one sister, Muriel F. Pfiefer, Tucumcari, New Mexico, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610. The family will receive guests from 12-1. A Masonic ritual will be held at the beginning of the service, at 1:00, in the entranceway ( narthex), followed by the ceremony. A private Service of Committal will be scheduled at the convenience of the family. In place of flowers, a goodwill donation may be made in honor of Burton F.
