Obituary for Eugene F. "Gene" Wojciechowski

Eugene F. Wojciechowski, 83 of Greenfields, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 7 at Berks Heim, where he resided for the past year. Born April 2, 1935 in Reading, Gene was a son of the late Stanley E. and Mary C. (Warkoczewski) Wojciechowski. He was married for 62 years to Joan F. (Keegan) Wojciechowski.

A 1953 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Gene served in the US Army Reserves before working for 20 years with his father and brothers at Stanley’s Tavern, Reading. He then worked as a roofing superintendent before retiring. He was also a talented, self-taught carpenter, beautifully completing numerous home remodeling and renovation projects for friends and family.

Gene was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, Whitfield. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and trips to Cape May.

In addition to his wife, Gene is survived by a daughter Susan Bradshaw, West Halifax, VT, a son John, Bern Township, and two grandchildren: Jared Seibert, husband of Laura (Rochelle), and Erin Bradshaw, soon to be wed to Ken Dransfield. Also surviving are two brothers: Gerald, husband of Maureen, Daytona, FL; and Joseph, husband of Geraldine, Muhlenberg Township.

Gene was predeceased by a grandson Jonathan Bradshaw, and a brother Richard S. Wojciechowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 14 at 10:30am in the Chapel of the Resurrection, Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Friday morning from 9:00-10:00am at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
