Obituary for Sue Ellen Kaufman (Lorah)
Sue Ellen (Lorah) Kaufman, 82, formerly of West Wyomissing, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2018, at Chestnut Knoll, Boyertown, surrounded by her loving family. Born March 7, 1936, in West Reading, she was a daughter of the late Elwood and Ruth (Rauenzahn) Lorah.
A graduate of Reading High School, Sue earned her RN degree from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a private nurse for many years, and for over 20 years as a nurse at Wernersville State Hospital, before retiring in 1998.
A long-time member of Sacred Heart R.C. Parish, West Reading, Sue was a woman of great devotion and faith. Above all else, she loved her family, traveling with her children and grandchildren on wonderful trips to Disney World and Myrtle Beach.
Sue was the coordinator of many terrific Kaufman family reunions, and found any excuse to get together with her family. She also enjoyed crafts, making sure everyone in her family had something she hand-made; gifts they now all dearly cherish.
Sue is survived by her daughters: Barb, wife of Dave George, Fleetwood, and Trish, wife of Tim Hance, Stafford, VA; and sons: E. Adam Kaufman, husband of Dr. Kathy, Allentown, and Tom Kaufman, husband of Toni, Schwenksville.
Also surviving are the lights of her life: grandchildren Eddie and Alison Quigg, Jen and Kevin Sheptock, Jen Cortright, and Savannah and Rhyon Hance; and great grandchildren: Brianne, Sabrina, and Nathan Quigg, Santos Torres, and Chase Cortright. She is also survived by a sister, Emmajeane Correll, Mount Dora, FL.
Sue was predeceased by her husband, Neal Kaufman, and a son, Kevin Kaufman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am, Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 740 Cherry Street, West Reading. Burial will follow in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Tamaqua. Friends may call Wednesday evening, December 26, from 6:00-7:30pm and Thursday morning, 9:00-9:30am at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading.
