Obituary for Donald L. Broskey

Donald L. Broskey, 89, of Spring Township, passed away June 30, 2017, in the Reading Hospital.

He was the husband of Geraldine P. (Printz) Broskey. They married on September 17, 1955.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Leo and Anna (Tomaszewski) Broskey.

He attended Reading Catholic High School.

Donald was a U.S. Army veteran enlisting in 1946, stationed in Japan for one year before being honorably discharged in 1948. Then, he went to work for DeTurk Tile and had several other jobs. He then enlisted in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard in 1951. He was stationed with the 148th Fighter Squadron and later moved to Harrisburg International Airport with the 193rd. He retired as Chief Master Sergeant in 1986.

He was a member of St. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

Donald loved to bowl; it was his hobby for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Cynthia A., wife of Darryl Koch; Donald F. Broskey, all of Sinking Spring and Robert L. Broskey, Bethlehem; nine grandchildren: Amy, Stephanie, Michele, Dara, Jessica, Chad, Victor, Bridget and Juliet; three great-grandchildren: Hayden, Audrey and Norah and expecting three more great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two siblings, Kenneth Broskey and Dorothy Sokolowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 7, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, 451 South 6th St, Reading, PA 19602. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA. Flowers will be accepted or a donation to St. Peter’s the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 322 South 5th St, Reading, PA 19602 or a charity of your choice.
