Harold F. Gantert Jr., 88, of Cumru Township, passed away July 4, 2017, in his residence surrounded by his family.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Harold F. Sr. and Miriam (Braun) Gantert.

He was the husband of Helen B. (Karczewski) Gantert whom he married on October 7, 1950.

Harold was a graduate of Reading High School.

He was a veteran of the United States Army where he was a member of the Special Forces 11th Airborne Division Paratrooper.

Harold was employed as a supervisor by Georgia Pacific Corporation.

He was an avid golfer, enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Judith, wife of Scott Specht, Cumru Township; Gerrianne Gantert, Florida; Gerard Gantert, Cumru Township; and Jeffrey, husband of Ginger Gantert, Wernersville; one sister, Janice Foley, Levittown; one brother, Barry Gantert, Lincoln Park; eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 10, 2017, at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 2810 St. Alban’s Drive, Reading, PA 19608. Interment will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday from 10-11 a.m. in the church. The Edward J.
