Obituary for
Arthur S. Wyandt
Arthur “Art” S. Wyandt 82, passed away July 20, 2017 in his Wyomissing residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of Elsie (Smith) Wyandt with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Born in Scranton, Art was the son of the late Sylvester and Helen (Chermak) Wyandt.
He attended Scranton Technical High School and took classes at the University of Scranton. He and Elsie moved to Berks County in 1958 and have resided in the area since.
Art was employed first at American Casualty Company as a research analyst. He also worked at The Reading Hospital for five years as Data Processing Manager. He was active in the Data Processing Management Association, where he served as a President for one year. In 1967 he joined the IBM Corp. in Reading as a systems engineer, where he worked for 26 years primarily in support of IBM data processing systems in local and regional banks. Upon leaving IBM, Art worked for two years for National Penn Bank in their information Processing Dept. in Boyertown. He semi-retired to a part-time position as Finance Manager at the West Lawn United Methodist Church for five years before retiring in 2000. Even during his busy working years Art loved to travel and spend time with his loving family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, Deborah Jean, wife of Ronald Flicker, Maxatawny; William, husband of Michelle Wyandt, West Lawn; Scott Wyandt, Womelsdorf; and Doreen, wife of Gregory Adams, Sinking Spring. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. in West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Ave., West Lawn, PA 19609, with burial to follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Viewing will be held Wednesday, July 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading and Thursday July 27 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the church.
