Obituary for Karen H. Good

Karen H.  Good
Karen H. (Heisler) Good, 74, died October 15, 2017, in her Wyomissing residence.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Florence S. (Schreiner) Heisler.

She was a graduate of Wyomissing High School in 1961. In 1965 she earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Muhlenberg College and later gained her master’s degree in Education and Special Education from Temple University.

Karen was employed by Owen J. Roberts as a middle school Special Education teacher and later for Wilson Southern in the same capacity, retiring in 2008.

She was a devoted member of Bausman Memorial United Church of Christ, Wyomissing where she was involved in many things from serving on Consistory to playing hand bells.

Karen will be remembered for many things such as: being a long-time educator; playing bridge with her friends; Thursday night trivia; enjoying crafts and her garden which was full of plants and flowers. She will also be remembered for her passion and love for others especially her students.

She is survived by her son, Brian C., husband of Erin Dean, Beaufort, SC; her sister, Linda Heisler Love, wife of James A. Love, Lansdale; her niece, Dr. Kathleen Love, wife of Dr. Mark J. Johnson, Wenatchee, WA; her nephew, Patrick J., husband of Jennifer Love, Kempton; and her beloved dog, Duffy.

Karen was predeceased by her brother, John Edward Heisler.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bausman Memorial UCC, 1064 Penn Ave, Wyomissing, PA 19610. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Contributions may be made to Bausman Memorial UCC at the above address or the American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Ave., Reading, PA 19605.
