Peter M. Farrier, 73, of Reading, died December 11, 2017, in his residence.

Born on November 18, 1944, in West Reading, he was a son to the late Paul H. Farrier and Mildred E. (Heck) Morenzy. He was also raised by his step-father, Albert J. Morenzy, who taught Peter carpentry, cement work, paving, gardening, softball, fishing, self-defense and a little about life.

Peter was a 1963 graduate of Reading Senior High School. He attended Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute, Muhlenberg Vo-Tech School, Reading Area Community College and Penn State University Berks Campus.

He was employed by Gring's Mill Berks Heritage Center of Wyomissing, retiring in 2006. Prior to that, he also worked for 25 years as an electrical drafting designer for NGK Metals and Gilbert Commonwealth. He also worked as a custodian for various local schools.

Pete graduated from Class A Radar School from the U.S. Naval base in Great Lakes, Illinois. He attended precommission schools at Newport, Rhode Island, for the USS Brumby for which he was a plankowner. Peter was a Navy Veteran for the Vietnam War Era.

He was a life member of the Volunteer Fireman's Relief Association and Liberty Fire Company of Reading.

Peter was a member of Nativity Lutheran Church of Reading. Prior to that, he was a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church, of Reading, where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and helped coach the church softball team.

He liked to plan home and yard projects. He liked cooking his specialties for family and friends. Peter loved to watch and listen as children developed physical and social skills. One of his life's simplest pleasures was sitting in a beach chair along the ocean's edge of Cape May, waiting for a big wave to pummel him over.

He is survived by his brother, Thomas P., husband of Jacqueline Farrier, Reading; and his Sister, Salliann E., widow of Charles G. Wagner, Sr., West Reading. Peter is also survived by three nephews, one niece, one great-nephew, one great-niece and two God children: Karie and Nathan Hartman.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, December 18, 2017, in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
