Obituary for Jere M. Kistler

Jere M. Kistler
Jere M. Kistler, 70, passed away January 1, 2018, at his residence with his wife and son at his side.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Harold and Ruth Kistler.

He was the husband of Marie T. Kistler, to whom he had been married for 47 years.

Jere, aka July Pillsbury, was a 1965 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School.

He was a drummer since the age of 15, playing throughout his life for many bands including Vic and the Catalinas, with whom he had a "Top 40" hit record.

In 1979, he founded and operated Kistler Auto Sales at two locations.

Jere loved fishing in Delaware, and attending Maple Grove events due to his fondness for classic muscle cars. Later he became an avid table tennis player in the Berks County League.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Michael J., husband of Audra Kistler, Lincoln Park; and two granddaughters, Hannah and Rachel.

Memorial service will be held Friday, January 5, 2018, at 12 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Due to Jere's love for animals, in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Animal Rescue League, 58 Kennel Rd, Birdsboro, PA 19508. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc. West Reading, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
