Obituary for Glenda C. Peake (Carson)

Glenda C. Peake, 80, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018, at The Highlands at Wyomissing.

She is survived by her husband Murray W. Peake, who she married April 12, 1975.

Born in Burlington, NC, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Ruth G. (Green) Carson.

Glenda attended Alexander Wilson High School, NC.

In her early years, Glenda worked in quality control at Kayser-Roth Hosiery. Upon her move to Pennsylvania with her husband Murray, she became a stay at home mother and was very active in the community, especially at First Presbyterian Church, Reading. Glenda was a church elder and served on the Department of Education and Nurture at First Presbyterian Church for over ten years.

She enjoyed needlepoint, traveling and spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, Glenda is survived by four children: James H., husband of Jean Peake, Harrisburg; Rev. Mark S., husband of Kimberly Peake, Monterey, CA; Karen N., wife of Jerry Lanning, Denton, NC; and Ellen N., wife of Leslie Pryor, Denton, NC. A sister, Cynthia C., wife of Gary Rutledge, Burlington, NC, and six grandchildren: Jermy, Jennifer, Jamison, Jordan, Theo and Jonah also survive her.

Glenda was predeceased by two brothers: James Carson and Houston Carson, and one grandson, Carson Cromer.

The Peake family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the caregivers of Home Instead Senior Care. These ladies helped Glenda during her stay at The Highlands at Wyomissing. She truly became close friends with these special ladies and they shared a love for African Violets and needlework.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Highlands at Wyomissing, Cultural Center Room, 2000 Cambridge Ave., Wyomissing, PA 19610. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
