Obituary for Francis "Frank" H. Promutico

Francis H. “Frank” a.k.a “Sheriff” Promutico, 93, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 in Reading Hospital.

He is survived by his wife Louise R. (DiMatteo) Promutico, whom he married April, 16, 1955.

Born in Reading on March 30, 1924, he was the son of the late Enrico and Lucia (Pietrantonio) Promutico.

He was a member of Holy Rosary R.C. Church, Reading.

Frank was enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946 as a 2nd Class Boatsman Mate. His tour of duty included sailing the south pacific on the USS P.H. Burnett IX 104 in World War II.

He owned and operated Henry and Sons Auto Salvage in Millmont (Riggie’s Junkyard) for 40 years with his brothers.

In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by seven children: Marc, husband of Louise Promutico, Selkirk, NY; Ricky, husband of Kim Promutico, Reading; Daniel Promutico, Southern Shores, NC; Teresa, wife of John Bonanno, Reading; Joseph, husband of Marcie Promutico, Reading; Chris, husband of Kathy Promutico, Reading; and Rebecca, wife of Jason Olszewski, Southern Shores, NC. Seventeen grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive him.

Frank was predeceased by three siblings: Pauline Sellari, Angelo Promutico, and Daniel Promutico.

Frank was an avid horse racing fan. He was proud of his Italian heritage which he instilled in all his children. Frank had the gift to speak his mind with fluency. He enjoyed a good conversation with many and loved his corner seat at the Upland Café. He also loved spending time with his friends at the Angelica Dam reminiscing about the good old days.

His favorite times included family gatherings and talking with his grandchildren: Rachel, Michael, Sarah, Amanda (Marc); Julian, Justin, Jevin (Ricky); Angela, Joseph, Ashley (Teresa); Briana, Joseph (Joe); Sophia, Isabella (Chris); Daniel, Anthony, Elena (Rebecca).

A prayer service will be held Friday, February 16, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., at Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 5153 Kutztown Road, Temple, PA 19560. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemtetery. A viewing will be held one and a half hours prior to the service, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
