Obituary for Alexander Scott Wolfe

Alexander Scott Wolfe
Alexander Scott Wolfe, 39, of Bern Twp., passed on to his eternal life on March 24, 2018, in his residence.

Having nearly 5 years of sobriety, God continued to challenge him in life. Alex was diagnosed with cancer in December, and it was the start of a tragic downfall for him. He had surgery to remove the tumor and was administered heavy pain medication while under a doctor's care. His disease of addiction awoke, hiding in the dark waiting for every opportunity to strike. Alex had undergone intensive chemotherapy for over a month. He described it as the worst pain he ever experienced and as if he had been spiritually zapped. While finally on the rebound from the treatments, he began to feel good again, but deep down he was struggling with his disease which had come to surface in this vulnerable time. He went back for his first check up with his oncologist last week and received news that there was something they missed in his lab work, and that he should have done an additional 3 week cycle. To avoid the chance of the cancer coming back they strongly advised him to complete the additional cycle immediately. Alex was crushed. And that was the last reason his disease needed. They could escape, be free from it all, just one more time, ONE MORE TIME... and now he is gone.

We lost an amazing man. He built a great life surrounded by wonderful, loving family and friends. He was a hard worker and extremely dedicated to his employer. He was an incredible son, husband, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. Alex was just beginning his journey of fatherhood to a precious baby boy. Such a great life and none of that was enough to keep his disease away. The disease of addiction is cunning, baffling, and powerful. Alex would do anything to help another stay sober. If this can be an example for others to learn from, well... so be it. May he continue to help another some way, some how.

Alex was the loving husband of Stacy Nicole (Stricker) Wolfe. They were married on December 3, 2016 at Atonement Lutheran Church in Wyomissing. They both met in recovery and grew together on their journey of sobriety.

Born in Reading, he was the son of D. Scott and Patricia (Fritz) Wolfe of Reading.

Alex was a 1996 graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School and continued his education at Northampton Community College where he achieved his associate's degree in Automotive Technology.

He was employed as a supervisor at M&M Landscaping. In previous years, he worked for County Chrysler as an auto-technician.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his newborn baby son, Tristan Alexander Wolfe. He is also survived by two brothers: Shane Bennett, Reading; and Erick Wolfe, Reading; four nieces and nephews: Jack, Bridgette, and Elle Bennett; and Lyla Wolfe; and four aunts: Melissa Fritz, Reading; Pamela Fritz, Reading; Lynn Mast, Wyomissing; and Leah Clancy, Atlanta.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, 19611. A visitation will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Contributions may be made c/o Stacy Wolfe and sent to Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. at the above address, for a memorial fund that is being set up for the benefit of his son, Tristan Alexander Wolfe. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
