Obituary for Minnie "Domenica" Notobartolo

Minnie “Domenica” (Notobartolo) Notobartolo, 90, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 17, 2018, in her Riverview Park residence with her loving family by her side. Born October 24, 1928, at Villa Grazia, Palermo, Sicily, she was the only daughter of the late Frank P. and Mary (LoPorto) Notobartolo. She was married for 69 wonderful years to Victor “Vito” Notobartolo, Muhlenberg.

Minnie worked for 27 years in clothing manufacturing for Talbott Knitting Mill, Reading, retiring in 1984. She was a longtime member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, and was totally devoted to her religion and her family.

She especially loved cooking for everyone, and having her family together for Sunday dinners and great Holiday gatherings. The wonderful smell alone of her kitchen is something that will stay with her family forever; there was nothing quite like it. Minnie also enjoyed gardening and watching the beautiful flowers she planted grow.

Minnie always said that one of the greatest days of her life was in November, 1952, when she proudly became an American citizen, after emigrating from Italy in 1949.

In addition to her husband, Minnie is survived by their children: son Giovanni A. Notobartolo, husband of Cindy, Frederick, MD; and daughters Frances M. Notobartolo-Schroeder, wife of Donald, Muhlenberg Township; and Mary Jo Notobartolo-Ast, wife of Michael, Spring Township. Also surviving is her grandson Niccolo Michael Ast, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Monday, November 26, 2018, at Holy Rosary Church, 237 Franklin Street, Reading, followed by burial at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6:30-7:30pm, and Monday morning from 9:00-9:30am at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Minnie’s honor may be made to Holy Rosary R.C. Church at the address above.

The Notobartolo family would like to thank the very special caregivers at Caring Hospice for their compassion and care of Minnie the past few months.

Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
