Thomas A.B. Floriani, 61 of Wyomissing, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 7 at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital in Allentown, following a lengthy illness. Born February 27, 1957 in Reading, Tom was a son of the late Basil and Elnor (Krebs) Floriani.

Tom dedicated his entire life to helping others. A 1975 graduate of Reading Central Catholic High School, Tom earned his BS in Criminal Justice from Alvernia College. He worked for over 20 years as a 911 dispatcher for the Berks County Department of Emergency Services, last working in 2017.

He was a former Board Member of the Western Berks Ambulance Association and was active as a volunteer fireman for the Reading Fire Department for many years. Quite simply, Tom was always willing to help anyone, anytime, with anything. And no matter where he went, people seemed to know him.

He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs and Reading Fightins, especially their 4th of July fireworks. Tom had a great sense of humor, and would expertly pepper his conversations with amusing movie quotes. Because he was such a big fan of the caped crusader, his friends called him “Batman”.

But more than anything, Tom deeply adored his son Nic.

In addition to Nic, Tom is survived by his wife, Rosemari (Eiswert) Floriani, and his seven siblings: brothers Peter, Patrick and Christi Floriani; and sisters Rita, Peggy and Catherine Floriani, and Eileen, wife of Jim Scheibner. Also surviving is an aunt, Rose (Floriani) Cinfici, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 13 at 10:30am at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 151 N. 9th Street, Reading, PA 19601, where he was a long-time parishioner. Viewings will be held Thursday evening, July 12, from 5:30-7:30pm, and Friday morning, 9:00-10:00am, at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA. Burial will follow Mass at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
