Obituary for Darlene Mary Sarno

Darlene Mary Sarno, 74, formerly of Reading, PA and Austintown, OH, passed away August 30, 2018, in West Palm Beach, FL, surrounded by her loving family.

Darlene was born on November 16, 1943, in Reading, PA to the late John and Mary (Borelli) Parzanese. She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School.

She was the loving and beloved wife of Fiore Sarno; they were married on July 22, 1967.

A committed, loyal and loving mother, Darlene chose to stay at home to raise her children; a gift she gave her children and one that they will always remember and cherish.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted children: John (Veronica) Sarno; Aniello (Mona) Sarno; and Graziella (Robert) Smuller; her much beloved grandchildren: Adriana, Matteo, Michael, Marco, and Giuliana; and her sister, Geraldine (Parzanese) Woodring.

Darlene was very close to her immediate and extended family and traveled to Italy and all over the United States to spend time with them. She enjoyed sitting outside her house and passing the time with her friends and neighbors. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her grandchildren, holding them when they were small, reading to them and watching them ride scooters and play outside as they got older. Regretfully, her grandchildren lost her too soon. Her absence leaves an enormous void in the lives of her husband, children and grandchildren. Words cannot express how much we will miss her. She will always be our guiding light, our Angel and always with us in our hearts. May God bless her and hold her in the palm of his hands.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 7, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading. A viewing will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Interment will be private. Contributions in Darlene's memory may be made to the American Heart Association. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
