Obituary for Michael George Lamparella, Sr.

Michael G. Lamparella, Sr., 93, passed away October 11, 2018, in his West Lawn residence.



His wife, Elvera A. (Pavone) Lamparella, passed away March 19, 2018; they were married on June 29, 1947. Born in Philadelphia on February 22, 1925, he was a son of the late Angelo and Michelina Lamparella.



Michael was a graduate of Overbrook High School in 1943, and Temple University in 1949 earning a degree in Accounting. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. Michael was an IRS agent for six years; later he was the owner/operator of Reading Sheet Metal Products, Co., Reading from 1956 to 1997. He was proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed the arts including painting and photography. His favorite hobbies were playing cards with family and golfing with friends. Michael was a founding member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield, where he was a daily communicant.



He is survived by one son, Michael G., Jr., husband of Sherry Lamparella, Sinking Spring. Nine grandchildren: Eric, husband of Karina Almassy; Brian Almassy; Angela Scalese; Michael, III, husband of Paige Lamparella; Dr. Nicholas, husband of Jessica Lamparella; Julie Henry; William Chase, IV; Lauren Chase; and Marissa Chase; four great-grandchildren: Colin and Ian Lamparella, Luciana and Giada Lamparella; and Jordan Endy, son of Sherry Lamparella.



He was predeceased by his two daughters: Diana Scalese in 2001 and Janice Chase in 2015; and his daughter-in-law, Lucille B. (Kennedy) Lamparella in 2005. Two brothers, John and Angelo also predeceased him.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. Ignatius RCC, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery will be private. Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Ignatius RCC at the above address.
