Obituary for James C. Fix

James C. Fix, 97, of Allentown, formerly of Reading, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was a son of the late E. Helen (Focht) Fix, and was married for 65 years to the love of his life, Virginia (Franks) Fix, until she passed in 2011.
Jim proudly served in the US Navy for six years during World War II, where he was a Gunner’s Mate, First Class, and received the Purple Heart. He returned home and worked for many years as a mechanic in a number of places before retiring from Carpenter Steel.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, hot rods, antique cars, and his dogs. He loved going to the races at Maple Grove with his sons, and car shows in Macungie and Ocean City, MD. Jim always enjoyed a good joke, and was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He will be dearly missed.
Jim was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Reading, and a member of the Anchorage Club.
He is survived by two children: Carol A. (Fix) Hecht, and Thomas Fix, husband of Brenda. Also surviving are five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Jim was predeceased by a brother Donald E. Fix, Sr., a son James D. Fix, and a granddaughter Dixie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at 10:00am at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 237 Franklin St, Reading. Burial with military honors will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter. Friends may call Tuesday evening, November 6, 2018, from 5:00-8:00pm at Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 5153 Kutztown Road, Temple.
