Elizabeth M. “Betty” (Freeburn) Batdorf, 89, formerly of Wyomissing Hills, died November 11, 2018, at Columbia Cottage.

Her husband, Merritt E. Batdorf died July 30, 1999.

Born in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Harold M. and Pauline R. (Wieger) Freeburn.

She was a 1947 graduate of Central Catholic High School.

Betty was employed by the Reading School District as an education assistant for 25 years, retiring in 1993.

She was a member of St. Ignatius Loyal Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.

Betty is survived by five children, Kate M., wife of John White, Allentown; Bonnie Lou Batdorf, West Reading; Terry A., wife of Michael Vranich, Hooversville; Meegan M., wife of James Clark, Shillington; and Stacie J. Batdorf, Reading. She is also survived by one sister, Maryanne, widow of Donald Kimberling, Wernersville; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, November 15, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading.
