Obituary for Arcadio Betancourt

Arcadio Betancourt, 87, passed away November 18, 2018, very peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

He was the beloved husband of Angelica (Fuentes) Betancourt, with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage.

Born in Hatillo, PR, he was the son of the late Confesor and Elisa (Colon) Betancourt.

Arcadio was a devoted catholic and parishioner of St. Peter's R.C. Church, Reading, where he was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Legion of Mary and the Transportation Ministries. He was also a member of Santo Nombre and volunteered at the Kennedy House.

He was avid Phillies fan. He also enjoyed playing dominoes with friends, but most importantly spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Carmen, wife of Fred Valencia, Blandon; Betzaida, wife of Adalberto Colon, Reading; Paul husband of Brandi Betancourt, Reading, who both lived across the street. He is also survived by his seven siblings, Emerito, Dolores, Ida Elis, Ofelia, Confesor Jr., Manolo and Pastor; six grandchildren, Diana L. Vojtasek, Michelle Sallee, Eric L. Colon, Steven A. Colon, Christian P. Betancourt, Mia F. Betancourt; and ten great-grandchildren.
Arcadio was predeceased by four siblings, Rosa, Rosendo, Luis, and Celso.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 322 S 5th St, Reading, PA 19602, with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.

Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Kennedy House c/o St. Peter's R.C. Church at the address above. Edward J.
