Obituary for Geraldine A. Kocan

Geraldine A. “Geri” Kocan, 80, of Wernersville, passed away December 11, 2018, at Penn State Health St. Joseph.



Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Alexander C. and Anna (Puwalski) Kocan.



She was employed by Pennsylvania Optical Company as a receptionist and administrative assistant for 45 years during which time she was honored as Employee of the Year in 1980.



Geri was a member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, and a former member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church.



She was a fantastic cook and loved to bake especially with her mother and brother. She enjoyed arranging family gatherings on holidays and other special occasions with special care given to every detail. An avid traveler, she vacationed in all New England states, Virginia, Florida, Canada, California, Ocean City, MD and other destinations.



She is survived by her sister, Patricia M., wife of Thomas R. Fleckenstein, Wernersville; two nieces, Michelle A. Evans and Denise L. Shaak; two nephews, Thomas D. Fleckenstein and David B. Fleckenstein, a great niece and six great nephews.



Geri was predeceased by two brothers, Alexander J. Kocan and Edward J. Kocan, and one sister, Theresa B. (Kocan) Zeiber.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 17, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery by Rev. Edward J. Essig, M.Div., with burial to follow. There will be no public viewing. In lieu of flowers, Masses would be appreciated. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
