Obituary for Denise Ann Cammarano (Mieczkowski)

Denise Ann (Mieczkowski) Cammarano, 61, passed away December 13, 2018, in her Reading residence.

She was the beloved wife of Joseph M. Cammarano Jr., with whom she celebrated 43 years of marriage.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Gertrude (Kupiszewski) Mieczkowski.

Denise was a 1975 graduate of Central Catholic High School and graduate of Albright College, where she received her B.S. in Psychology, and Marywood University, where she received her Master’s in Social Work.

She was a long time parishioner of St. Joseph R. C. Church, Reading.

Denise was owner and operator of Anti-Violence Advocacy (A.V.A.), she was also employed by Holcomb as a mobile therapist, with a focus on autism.

She was an avid conversationalist. She also enjoyed traveling especially to Wildwood, watching MASH with her husband, and listening to her other love, Barry Manilow sing.

Denise volunteered much of her time with Berks County Prison Society, Safe House, Berks Women in Crisis and with victims of domestic violence.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Melissa Cammarano, Reading; sister, Rosemary, wife of David C. Turner, Mohnton. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Arianna and Caleb Cammarano-McKenna; 37 nieces and nephews, and her two-canine companion, Gibbs and Cagney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph R.C. Church, 1018 N 8th St, Reading, PA 19604. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading.
