Obituary for Frank Brady

Francis C. “Frank” Brady, 65, died on Sunday, January 13, 2019, in his Muhlenberg Township home. Born November 2, 1953, in Rahway, NJ, he was a son of the late James and Catherine (Bradley) Brady. He was married to Kyle (Frankhouser) Brady, and together they celebrated 41 years of marriage.

Frank graduated from St. Joseph High School in Methuchen, NJ and earned his Bachelor’s degree at Drew University, Madison, NJ, where he was an All-American soccer player. After graduation, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Atoms of the North American Soccer League, the precursor to the MLS. He played for the Atoms and the New Jersey Americans, before turning to coaching, both at the collegiate level at Albright College, and later for the Reading Central Catholic girls team.

Frank worked for over 25 years at Redner’s Markets in operations, logistics and transportation.

Frank was a self-described simple man, who loved God and his family most of all. He especially enjoyed family vacations in Stone Harbor, his log cabin home in Muhlenberg, and reading just about anything, from history books to the daily newspaper. He was also a HUGE Green Bay Packers and Boston Celtics fan.

In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by their daughters: Kiernan, wife of Joe Melograna, Wyomissing; and Ashleigh, wife of Matt Hoelscher, Shillington; as well as four grandchildren, who were the lights of his life: Aidan and Evelyn Melograna, and Ian and Lauren Hoelscher.

Also surviving are his sisters: Kathleen Silvanovich; Maureen, wife of Billy Kovacs; and Eileen, wife of Michael Miller; his brother Max, husband of Patty; his mother-in-law Grace Frankhouser, sister-in-law Jill, wife of Tom Rice, and his college best friend, brother-in-law Michael Frankhouser.

A celebration of Frank’s life will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 7:00 pm at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Friends may call from 5:30-7:00 pm, at the funeral home. Casual attire is acceptable.
