Obituary for Fay E. Seidel
Fay E. (Hawk) Seidel, 91, formerly of Shillington, passed away January 15, 2019, at Serenity Gardens Assisted Living, Middletown, DE. She was the widow of William S. Seidel, Sr. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Howard A. and Elsie M. (Reeser) Hawk.
A graduate of Reading High School, Fay was employed by the Reading Eagle as a proof reader for 42 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Shillington.
Fay was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, and also enjoyed traveling with her loving husband.
She is survived by one daughter, Diane S. (Seidel) Metzinger, companion of Mark Tobias, Exeter; two step-children, William S., Jr., husband of Christina Seidel, Shillington and Robert D., husband of Tammy Seidel, Kenhorst and one god-daughter, Elaine, wife of Jerry Bartlett, Dover, DE. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jordan Pineiro, Joshua Pineiro, Brandon Seidel, Sabrina Yost, Taylor Seidel, Connor Jane Seidel, J.D. Bartlett, Crystal Powell and Christopher Bartlett, as well as six great-grandchildren, Bret, Jonah, Gentry, Connor, Kaileigh and Colby.
Fay was predeceased by her step-daughter, Linda L. Seidel; her sister, Molly (Hawk) Wenrich; her brother, Richard Hawk, and her beloved dog, Ebony.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Elaine and Jerry Bartlett for the loving and compassionate care they gave Fay for many years.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, with burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
