Though we never met Laney, we learned of her incredible life and spirit on Facebook through another very ill friend (who, unfortunately, also passed). The loss of a child must be the most devastating blow a family can suffer. Laney continues to be a bright light in Heaven, looking over her family and friends. What an inspiration! It is so amazing what an 8 yr old little girl taught so many adults. Today and in the future i will have laney in my prayers and heart. she has opened my eyes to what people can do for others. I did not know Laney or her family, but like many mourners I came to know her story through social media and the Internet. Laney touched my life and I know she touched countless others. I want to send my deepest condolences to Laney's family and to tell you that you are in my prayers and thoughts. Laney seemed to be lovely little girl and I'm so sorry you lost her and we lost her. Laney has touched so many lives that she didn't even know them personally....including me. I am sorry for the loss but know that she will always be with you and your family and also the others that followed her story. She is definitely an angel and a hero to me. I live in Florida but my sister Jane Kelly lives 3 houses from the Brown family on 4th Ave. She was walking down the street on her birthday (Dec. 18) and saw Laney's house all brightly lit up, but only a few homes with lights in their decorations. She thought Laney would like to see her neighborhood lit up like a Christmas village. She started knocking on her neighbor's doors but only a few of them were home. The next day she had to work, so she asked her friend Stacey to design a flyer which she passed out and posted all over the neighborhood. Friends and businesses donated lights and that night the whole neighborhood was outside decorating 'til after midnight. Laney touched so many hearts and united so many people all over the world. When I put the angel on the top of my tree I said in my heart "this angel is for you, sweet Laney".

Although I did not know Laney or her family personally, I have been following the Team Laney for a few months. I have cried many times when I would read some of the articles. I want to thank the parents for sharing their stories with the world. Laney always seemed to be in good spirits even when she was in the hospital for periods at a time. She always had a smile on her beautiful face. She always seemed so happy and that she wasn't worried about anything. Laney has made many people unite worldwide and is a hero. I was so happy to hear how everyone came together and done caroling for her for Christmas. I was happy to hear about Taylor Swift making this precious angel's dream come true. I never got the opportunity to meet Laney, but I have been following her story for the past few weeks. Although this girl and her family are complete strangers to me, I feel that they are not. When I see little Laney smiling, full of life...I think back to the 11 year old version my myself who was battling Rhabdomyosarcoma at Hershey Medical Center as a Four Diamonds Child. When I see her parents reports and the incredible amount of love they have for their children and their savior, I see my parents. Laney reminds me so much of myself. After two battles with that disease, I was diagnosed many years later at the age of 25 with colon cancer which has since spread to the liver. While things look decent for me now at the age of 28...Laney's story has transformed the way I fight. Seeing her smile in her darkest moments is truly a test of character that will live on forever. Her love, attitude and positivity is something I will carry with me in my future battle with this ugly disease. As a Penn State Alumni who served as a THON overall chair and still try to remain active as an Alumni Ambassador, I will use this story to motivate the kids to work harder and keep going stronger so that one day these stories won't exist. God Bless the Brown family, and I will continuously pray for the little angel that will be looking over you. All of my heart is with you right now.

Although we have never met, I feel close to your family. I started following Team Laney a few months ago and have been following it still. Laney has been an inspiration to many people including myself. Although she had been dealing with her illness, she never seemed to be unhappy. Even though I have only seen her in pictures, she always seemed to be a happy little girl even when she was in the hospital for periods on end. She didn't seem to let it get her down. There was one post in particular that made me just tear up instantly. It was a post of a conversation with Laney and her mother about wanting a miracle. Laney had told her she already had her miracle and that she had her mother as her mommy. I can't remember the words exactly. My heart melted. May Laney be at peace in the arms of God and flying high with the angels.

I lost a daughter when she was very young. I know the pain you're going through. Please take to heart how many lives your precious daughter touched in the past few months. To Laney's Family, My deepest sympathies to all of you. Laney's little life was much too short. I am so sorry that she is gone for your family. You truly were blessed to have such a wonderful and brave daughter. Her fight with AML is an inspiration. My sister also has AML and is continuing her fight each and every day. I pray that she will continue to win. Two years ago on Christmas night we got the devastating news that my oldest sister had Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer and only had weeks to live. She died 3 weeks later on January 10, 2012. Having two sisters diagnosed in the same year with cancer and losing one was horrific. But somehow we have faith and God gets us through. I pray that God will keep your family in his loving care and watch over all of you during this very difficult time. The loss will never go away, but as time goes on you will find comfort in knowing your little Angel is not alone and she is with many other Angels up in Heaven who are there with her. Not too long ago in Heaven there was a little soul who took wonder in observing the world. He especially enjoyed the love he saw there and often expressed this joy with God. One day however the little soul was sad, for on this day he saw suffering in the world. He approached God and sadly asked, "Why do bad things happen; why is there suffering in the world?" God paused for a moment and replied, "Little soul, do not be sad, for the suffering you see, unlocks the love in people's hearts." The little soul was confused. "What do you mean," he asked. God replied, "Have you not noticed the goodness and love that is the offspring of that suffering? Look at how people come together, drop their differences and show their love and compassion for those who suffer. All their other motivations disappear and they become motivated by love alone." The little soul began to understand and listened attentively as God continued, "The suffering soul unlocks the love in people's hearts much like the sun and the rain unlock the flower within the seed. I created everyone with endless love in their heart, but unfortunately most people keep it locked up and hardly share it with anyone. They are afraid to let their love shine freely, because they are afraid of being hurt. But a suffering soul unlocks that love. I tell you this - it is the greatest miracle of all. Many souls have bravely chosen to go into the world and suffer - to unlock this love - to create this miracle for the good of all humanity."Just then the little soul got a wonderful idea and could hardly contain himself. With his wings fluttering, bouncing up and down, the little soul excitedly replied. "I am brave; let me go! I would like to go into the world and suffer so that I can unlock the goodness and love in people's hearts! I want to create that miracle!" God smiled and said, "You are a brave soul I know, and thus I will grant your request. But even though you are very brave you will not be able to do this alone. I have known since the beginning of time that you would ask for this and so I have carefully selected many souls to care for you on your journey. Those souls will help you create your miracle; however they will also share in your suffering. Two of these souls are most special and will care for you, help you and suffer along with you, far beyond the others. They have already chosen a name for you". God and the brave soul shared a smile, and then embraced.In parting, God said, "Do not forget little soul that I will be with you always. Although you have agreed to bear the pain, you will do so through my strength. And if the time should come when you feel that you have suffered enough, just say the word, think the thought, and you will be healed." Thus at that moment the brave little soul was born into the world, and through his suffering and God's strength, he unlocked the goodness and love in people's hearts. For so many people dropped their differences and came together to show their love. Priorities became properly aligned. People gave from their hearts. Those that were always too busy found time. Many began new spiritual journeys, some regained lost faith - many came back to God. Parents hugged their children tighter. Friends and family grew closer. Old friends got together and new friendships were made. Distant family reunited, and every family spent more time together. Everyone prayed. Peace and love reigned. Lives changed forever. It was good. The world was a better place. The miracle had happened. God was pleased.

I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. I saw your daughter's story through Facebook just recently and was so touched by the heart of Laney. I lost my mother when I was 35 and felt somewhat cheated that I lost my Mom at a fairly young age, but I also felt so blessed to have the mother I did for those 35 years rather than another for 70! I strongly believe that each one of us is here for a reason and when we've done what God has wished we go with him to a much better place. I too was diagnosed with leukemia, type APL on April 30th of this year. I finally made it home in September and so far I am cancer free. I am on continued maintenance chemo until July 2015. I hope you can find comfort with this. Your daughters story has found a place in our heart to remind us to tell our children not to take things for granted. She is a beautiful girl and have followed this whole story since it aired on tv. When I found out of her passing it brought tears to my eyes.

Laney brightened the world with her smile and her positive outlook against all odds. Most of us didn't know her personally but she quickly won our hearts online. I'm so glad she made it to Christmas Day, if only for a little while before going home to God. Merry Christmas little angel and RIP - thank you for reminding us what it is to truly live and love!
