Obituary for Nayon B. Halye (Rittenhouse)

Nayon B. (Rittenhouse) Halye, 81, passed away November 30, 2018, in St. Joseph Hospital.

She was the loving wife of the late James W. Halye, who died in 2006.

Born in Hazelton, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ralph B. and Myrtle E. (Slusser) Rittenhouse.

Nayon was a 1954 graduate of Beaver High School and a 1969 graduate of Geisinger Hospital, where she received her LPN.

She was employed by Wernersville State Hospital as an LPN for over 20 years.

Nayon was a devoted member of the Hamburg Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she lead out in a Bible study group and senior ministries. She was also a member of the Shartlesville Lioness Club.

She was an avid reader, especially of her Bible. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, and crocheting blankets for her children and grandchildren, and traveling with her family. Nayon’s strong, caring and determined spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Nayon is survived by her three children, DonnaJean, wife of Roland B. Smith, Reading; James R., husband of Cindy Halye, Wilmington, OH; and Karl W., husband of Tammy Halye, Hamburg. She is also survived by a brother, Carl F., husband of Sandra Rittenhouse, Sugarloaf, PA; nine grandchildren, Ellen, Eric, Kory, Amie, Kathleen, Myles, Kristopher, Kimberly and Michael; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her grandson, Brian Halye, in 2017.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018, at 2 p.m. in Hamburg Seventh-day Adventist Church, 22 Willow Rd, Hamburg, PA 19526, with burial to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Viewing will be held Wednesday, December 5 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the church. Contributions can be made to the Hamburg Seventh-day Adventist Church at the above address. Burkey and Driscoll Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
