Teresa (Fuentes) Centeno, 85, of Reading, died December 27, 2017, in Penn State Heath St. Joseph.

She was the wife of Jesus Centeno. They married on September 6, 1952.

Born in Hatillo, Puerto, Rico, she was a daughter of the late Juan and Maria (Rosado) Fuentes.

She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

Teresa was a long-time seamstress last working for H.R. Oritsky, Reading. She previously was co-owner of Teresa’s Grocery Store with her husband.

She will be remembered for many things such as volunteering as a cafeteria worker at St. Peter’s Parochial School; love for knitting; playing dominoes; music and her great sense of humor which made everyone laugh.

Teresa loved her family; she especially enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children: Jesus Jr., husband of Diane Centeno, Kenhorst; and Luz “Lucy” Rodriguez, fiancée of Steve Pierce, Reading. Six siblings: Juana Morales, Rafael Fuentes, both of Reading, Ernesto Rosado, Muhlenberg Township, Angelica Betancourt, Aida Torres, both of Reading, and Israel Fuentes, FL; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren also survive her.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Rosa Galan and Edith Fuentes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 322 S 5th St, Reading, PA 19602. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, at the above address. Edward J.
