Marie E. Setley
Marie E. Setley, 61, of Mohnton, died March 15, 2018, at Reading Hospital after battling cancer.
She was the wife of Dr. David M. Setley; they were married on October 22, 1977.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late William V. and Mary L. (Decindio) Barthel.
Marie was a graduate of Governor Mifflin High School in 1974; Lehigh County Community College earning her associate's degree in Physical Therapy in 1976; she graduated from Alvernia University in 1995 in Elementary Education and her master's degree from Weidner University in 1997.
For over 20 years Marie was a physical therapy assistant. Later she taught at Alvernia University in their Physical Therapy Assistant program. Most recently, she was a professor at Reading Area Community College.
She was a member of St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, Plowville.
Marie enjoyed traveling and music. With her husband, she spearheaded trips for the Reading Symphony Youth Orchestra for more than a decade as they toured around the world. She cherished her trips to Maine with David and her family. Marie was also a 20 year member in the St. John Baptist de La Salle RCC music ministry, where she sang in the choir with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Jessica M., wife of Matthew R. Long, Manheim and Kelly L., wife of William D. Keim, Mohnton. There are two siblings, William Barthel, Jr., Mohnton and Donna J., wife of Richard Sager, McCloud, CA. Four grandchildren: Brooke, Breckin, Benson, and Roslyn and two expectant grandchildren also survive her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 23, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton, PA 19540 with entombment to follow at Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading.
